MECHANISM OF ACTION OF BIKTARVY TABLET:
Bictegravir, an inhibitor of integrase strand transfer, operates by preventing the HIV integrase enzyme from doing its job. This enzyme is in charge of integrating viral DNA into the host cell's DNA. Bictegravir stops the virus from replicating by preventing this process. The nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors emtricitabine and tenofovir alafenamide function by obstructing the reverse transcriptase enzyme, which is essential for the virus to reproduce. While tenofovir alafenamide is transformed into its active form (tenofovir), which functions as a chain terminator for viral DNA, emtricitabine inhibits the action of reverse transcriptase.
